Making Pillow Cases is an Easy Project For the Beginner SewerA standard pillow case is easy to make and can be a fun project for you and your child. As it is a beginner project there are only a couple of things that you'll need. You'll need to pick the fabric that you want to make your pillow cases out of and you'll need some sewing supplies: scissors, straight pins, measuring tape, tread to match your fabric and of course a sewing machine. You'll also want an iron handy as it will make the job a little easier. You can easily find patterns and instructions for basic pillow cases online. But if you are going to make your own pillow cases you might want to think about how you can personalize them a little. Embroidering the edge can be fun, or adding lace and ribbon can also give it a unique touch. You may even want to try appliqué for something a little different. One other thing to keep in mind is your choice of fabric. A fun holiday pattern may be all that you need to create a fun unique pillow case. However, if you do plan on adding appliqué or ribbon you may just want a simple solid colored fabric so that it doesn't become to complicated. If you are a little too busy to make your own pillow cases or your child isn't old enough to use a sewing machine don't worry. You can buy unique, personalized pillow cases online. It can be fun to shop for them, looking at all of the different patterns and styles that are available. Some will be silk screened and others will be embroidered. With some you will even have the option of having your child's name printed on the front. So, whether you make your own or shop for one on the internet, you'll have fun and end up with something that's uniquely your own.
