Reduce Discomfort With An Orthopedic Pillow

If sleeping is literally becoming a pain in your neck, you may need to use a different type of pillow. An orthopedic pillow is designed to support your neck as you sleep, which helps decrease neck pain. Why not give an orthopedic pillow a try before you turn to pricier pain remedies?

As you shop for an orthopedic pillow, you may notice that these pillows are also called cervical pillows and contour pillows. Since the pillows are made using a variety of materials, you should take a look at the life expectancy of each type of pillow. Some of these pillows may need to be replaced after several months of use, while others have a lifetime warranty. Despite the difference in materials, most orthopedic pillows have the same design. They are created so that there is a hollow in the pillow for your head, leaving the surrounding area higher to support your neck.

The orthopedic pillow also has several other points to consider. If you are allergic to dust or mildew, check for pillows that were made using hypoallergenic materials. Also, look for pillows that have protective pillow covers, since washing soiled pillows in a washing machine shortens their life.

Once you use an orthopedic pillow, you may finally be able to toss your chiropractor's phone number in the trash can.
